Charming Stars

So I have been anxious to use up the four charm packs of Good Fortune that I've had lying around. This weekend was it! I decided to try out the Charming Stars pattern from Moda Bake Shop.

Here's what it looked like when I laid all the charms all over my kitchen floor!

I have 12/20 blocks finished up. Hopefully the other 8 will come together tonight and then I can get crackin on the sashing. I'm thinking of omitting the cornerstone blocks shown in the tutorial. More photos as work progresses!

And yes, that's an apple pie on the counter! Mmmmmm!!

Farmyard Windows

The first finished project I've come up with since starting this blog is a little scrap quilt called Farmyard Windows.

It's made with leftovers from fat quarter bundle of Farmyard by Sentimental Studios for Moda.  Somehow I stumbled upon this Rectangle Squared Tutorial from Film in the Fridge and immediately decided it was time to stop studying and start putting that little roll of scraps to use!

I even managed to use up a lot of my scraps on the backing and binding!  I've got some scraps of the green wheat and the cream colored chicken prints left but that's about it.

My favorite part is the narrow pieced border - not sure exactly what it is, but something about the border just makes it all come together so nicely.

Posing with our distressed patio chairs...  they've been weathering on the patio for 5 winters - is it too late to stain them or anything??

Close-up of the sashing between the prints - some of them didn't match up perfectly.  It looks much neater now that it's been washed.  The puckering hides some of those mistakes!  Post-washing photos to come soon.

Back to normal!

After four months, it's time to go back to doing whatever I want whenever I want to do it! Hopefully in 8 to 12 weeks, I found out I passed the PE exam and don't have to go through that again! Yesterday I got the most expensive pencil I've ever owned.

Christmas in April!

So for the third day in a row, I got fabric in the mail today! I ordered a fat quarter bundle of Terrain and I'm so excited to make something with it! My stash is getting completely out of control!

Sitting here trying to learn how to solve environmental engineering problems is difficult when this fabric is on the same table.  Just a few more days!

One week until my life can resume!

One week to go until the PE exam!  I can't wait until it's over - I just keep thinking back to taking the FE exam and how it was like I lost an entire day of my life.  I went in to the Convention Center and it was dark.  I left the Convention Center and it was dark.  I only saw the sun at lunch.

Tomorrow is practice test day - my quilting area is currently my study area.  I've been doing a little bit of sewing before work in the morning just so I can get it out of my system and not be as distracted in the evening!  Last night I made the binding for my Farmyard Windows quilt.  Photos of that coming soon.

Only eight more days until I can start using up some of my fabric stash.  And I keep buying more things to add to it.  I think I might be a fabric hoarder.
